3 Secrets & hacks for home cleaning

by Jonathan Maines 06/30/2024

Homeowners are always finding hacks for home cleaning to make the process more efficient. Sometimes smart hacks can save you money, too. Here is a list of some of the best home cleaning hacks:

Use dryer sheets for dusting

There's no need for fancy dusters when you have regular fabric softener sheets available. Using dryer sheets is an inexpensive and effective way to wipe away dust on virtually any surface. They are soft enough to pose no risk of scratches and since they don't have any cleaning solutions added, there's no need to worry about stains. Dryer sheets will cling to dust and make cleaning quick and simple.

Freshen up your garbage disposal

A garbage disposal can quickly become a source of unpleasant odors if not cleaned. While it's possible to go a long time without regularly cleaning your disposal, sometimes especially pungent foods can stink up the whole kitchen long after they're gone. An easy hack for home cleaning is to keep it simple by either using a combination of baking soda and vinegar or citrus peels to freshen your disposal and eliminate odor.

Steam clean your microwave

Microwaves are among the most frequently used kitchen appliances and accumulate stains and odors quickly. Not only does cleaning your microwave keep it in good working condition, it will prevent buildup of bacteria from past spills and condensation. A simple hack for cleaning the tough stains from the inside of your microwave is to steam-clean the inside. Use a microwave-safe bowl filled with water and a bit of vinegar. The steam will loosen the sticky stains and make them easy to wipe away.
